Career
Vladimir Gorbunov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of HK CSKA Moscow , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Vysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, in the 1999/2000 season . Then he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2000 in the fourth round as a total of 105th player by the New York Islanders , for which he however never played. Instead, the attacker stayed with CSKA Moscow and rose with his team in the 2001/02 season in the Super League . In the Super League he spent another two years at CSKA before moving to Salawat Yulayev Ufa for the 2004/05 season within the Super League . However, he left his new club after only one game and signed a contract with the second division HK MWD Tver , with which he immediately got the second division championship and promotion to the super league.
After three years Gorbunow left the HK MWD Tver and joined his home club CSKA Moscow for the 2007/08 season. From 2008 to 2010 he joined the newly founded Continental Hockey League for his ex-club HK MWD, which has now moved to Balaschicha . With this he was defeated in the 2009/10 season Ak Bars Kazan only in the final of the playoffs for the Gagarin Cup . After the season, the HK MWD was merged with the HK Dynamo Moscow and the left-handed shooter received a contract for the 2010/11 season with their successor team OHK Dynamo . For the 2011/12 season he moved to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod within the KHL .
He spent the 2013/14 season at HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk and Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg .
