history
The building was constructed around 1640 by the Korff-Schmiesing family from Tatenhausen . After several changes of ownership, the Woermann merchant family took it over in 1809 and sold it again in 1839. The property, which originally stretched to Goldstrasse, was parceled out and sold separately. The first Bielefeld bank had its headquarters in the building from 1848 to 1875. It was founded in 1834. The southern part was demolished in 1893 to make room for the expansion of the monastery school, which is also a listed building. In 1901 the framework was exposed again. In 1974 the building was extensively restored.
