The Heinrichsplatz residential area is a listed residential area in the city of Quedlinburg in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

The residential area is located south of the historic old town of Quedlinburg in the Süderstadt district . The buildings Albert-Schweitzer-Strasse 23–28, Fröbelweg 1, 2, Heinrichstrasse 15, 16, 23–28, Seminarstrasse 1–6 and Theophanostrasse 1 are entered in the Quedlinburg monument register . Heinrichsplatz is to the northeast of the complex .

Architecture and history

The settlement emerged after the First World War around 1925. Only three houses in this area are older. The residential area was designed by the city planning officer Paul Lammer and was intended to create living space for socially needy families in the economically difficult post-war period.

The two- or three-storey plastered buildings extend along the streets as perimeter blocks . The houses have elements such as bay windows , dormitories and risalits . In addition, there are typical decorations in the style of Expressionism for the construction period .
