Fedellisten residential group

The group of residential houses Fedelhör is located in Bremen , Mitte district, Ostertor district , Fedellisten 40 to 63. The group of residential houses was created in 1860/1865 according to plans by various architects. It has been a listed building in Bremen since 1976 .

The street Fedellisten leads east-west from Am Dobben to President-Kennedy-Platz . It was created in 1860 and named after a water body Widel (1159), which led to the water body Dobben , which was filled in in 1864 . In 1861 the street formed a square-like widening at the level of Mendestrasse, into which Meinkenstrasse merged from the east.

history

In 1849 areas of the Ostertor district were incorporated and the citizens were given full citizenship of Bremen. Around 100 to 150 row houses were newly built in the 1850s. The ensemble is located between Am Dobben and Adlerstrasse.

The two- and three-storey houses with plastered facades and pitched or hipped roofs were built from around 1860 to 1865 for a middle and upper class in the era of historicism - but often different in style.

The house type Bremer Haus , which occurs frequently in the district , was built in Bremen between the mid-19th century and the 1930s. The basement as a basement , the deep building shape and the side entrance are characteristic.
The houses No. 45, 51, 59 and 60 differ with their central entrance, whereby No. 51 stands out in the design.
Nos. 59 and 60 show a late classical decor.
The building contractor Johann Bummerstedt built the villa-like corner house that deviated from the building line, as there used to be a small square here.

Today (2018) the houses are used for residential purposes, but also as offices and shops. In 2018, the owners of the Fedelhör 42 residential building were awarded the 2018 Federal Prize for Handicrafts in Monument Preservation by the German Foundation for Monument Protection in Bremen's City Hall for their exemplary renovation .
