The Wokuhlsee is a lake in the northeast of the Mecklenburgische Seenplatte district within the municipality of Kuckssee in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
The Wokuhlsee is almost 600 meters long, 110 meters wide and at its deepest point in the middle part about ten meters deep, the average depth is about four to five meters. The bottom of the lake and the banks are sandy to pebbly, only in the northern part, where a watercourse from the swampy southern end of the Puchower wood feeds the lake, it is boggy.
The lake has cloudy water and was once, up until the 1990s, populated in great numbers with crabs , in earlier times it was caught there by the locals in baskets or pulled out of its caves under the alder roots that reached into the water. The predatory fish population, especially perch and pike, was very abundant. The lake may have got its name from the first-named fish species, from the Polish of the Slavic period the meaning of Wokuhl , “location where perch live”, could be derived.
The Wokuhlsee is leased by the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Fishing Association. V.
The lakeshore is hilly to the west and east and is mainly lined with alders and willows, with some strong oaks on the west bank.
The lake is a glacial channel lake . It was created by the glaciers of the Pomeranian stage of the Vistula Ice Age .
