On the US Billboard 200 , Wolf rose to number 3. In the course of this, 89,895 units of the album could be sold. After the album had posted 18,000 sales in the second week, it then dropped to 22nd place. Wolf was also successful in Canada with an entry at number 2 on the album charts. The publication was ranked 19th in Australia, 10th in Denmark and 116th in France.

criticism

The e-zine Laut.de rated Wolf with three out of a possible five evaluation points. On the album, like “ improvised piano notes ”, “ dusty drums, soulful strings and pearly synth melodies ”. The rhythms of the productions “ challenge, drift or lull in ”. Furthermore, according to editor Dani Fromm, the rapper's flow is sovereign, but “ his Depri lecture simply pulls you down in the long run ”.

In the list of the best “Hip Hop Albums of the Year” 2013 by Laut.de , Wolf was placed 24th. From the editors' point of view, Wolf is " more accessible than his predecessor in many places ". Nevertheless, Tyler, the Creator is characterized by " a raw, deep voice paired with a [...] nested story ".
