Wolf Wiechert

Wolf Wiechert (born March 31, 1938 in Skandau in East Prussia ) is a German writer and poet .

He was born in East Prussia and fled with his family in 1945 via the Frisch Haff and two years later via the Oder to Upper Lusatia.

After graduating from high school in Bautzen , he fled to the West and began studying in Heidelberg . In Wertheim he worked as a German teacher at the grammar school from 1965 . Since his retirement he has been working as a cultural journalist for Main-Echo. Wiechert lives with his family in a village near Wertheim am Main.
