history

The company was founded in Remscheid in 1949 by the trained toolmaker and technical draftsman Robert Wolff (born January 28, 1921 in Remscheid; † March 2, 2010). In particular, thanks to a new process for the production of files and rasps, the initial manufacture was able to develop further and in 1961 offered tools for do-it-yourselfers for the first time under the “wolfcraft” brand. In 1965 the company relocated from Remscheid to Weibern in the Eifel. In 1968 sales already exceeded 2 million DM. In 1969, the wolfcraft hand milling machine began manufacturing and developing devices. With the first generation of drill stands in 1972, wolfcraft laid the foundation for market leadership in this segment.

The employee model was launched in 1973, which is still today known as the “wolfcraft model” and serves as a model for many employee and participation models. The central warehouse in Kempenich was put into operation in 1976, with sales exceeding DM 20 million for the first time. In 1982, Reinhard and Thomas Wolff, the second generation, took over management of the company. The total turnover amounted to 50 million DM.

In 1986 the US market was opened with a sales office in Chicago. A product segment that is still successful today was opened in Europe with the "variotec" machine table. In the same year Robert Wolff received the Rudolf Diesel Medal in silver. In 1989 subsidiaries were founded in France, Great Britain and Italy. In 1990 a second production facility was put into operation in Slovakia. Two years later a new logistics center for Europe followed in Kempenich. The turnover limit exceeded 100 million DM. The current company headquarters with a new administration building was moved into 1995 in Kempenich. In the same year the first wolfcraft clamping table was launched. The sales limit exceeded 150 million DM. The new type of wolfcraft one-hand clamp introduced in 1998 immediately received many awards. The TS 800 transport trolley was the global entry into the transport systems market in 2003. In 2008, complete wolfcraft DIY ranges were offered for the first time with the product groups “ laminate ” and “ drywall ”. The company was awarded the "German brand award 2017" by the German Design Council for its brand management and for the comprehensive overall package that enables even inexperienced DIY enthusiasts to carry out complex projects themselves .

The Robert-Wolff-Halle in Weibern was named after the company's founder. He also received honorary citizenship of the Kempenich community.
