Wolfe Island is an island in the Canadian province of Ontario . It is located near Kingston at the outflow of Lake Ontario into the Saint Lawrence River and is the largest of the Thousand Islands with an area of ​​124 km² . Wolfe Island belongs to Frontenac County , together with Howe Island and Simcoe Island it forms the municipality Frontenac Islands . The largest town is Marysville. The island is named after the British general James Wolfe .

The island is about 29 km long, its width varies from a few hundred meters to 9 km. The population is around 1200. Since the island is a popular tourist destination, twice as many visitors can come in the summer months. Wolfe Island can be reached by ferry from Kingston or Cape Vincent in neighboring New York State .
