Wolfgang Andreas von Graben
Wolfgang Andreas von Graben , also Wolf Andrä von Graben (* in the 15th century at Sommeregg Castle ; † in the 16th century there ), burgrave and lord of Sommeregg , was a Carinthian nobleman , administrator and imperial officer in Vienna.
biography
Wolfgang Andreas von Graben was the son of Andreas von Graben zu Sommeregg from the Sommeregger line of the Lords von Graben and Barbara von Hallegg , daughter of the imperial administrator of the provincial governorate of Carinthia and Burgrave of Sommeregg Jörg von Hallegg (also Hallecker). Among his nephews were Ladislaus Prager , Hereditary Marshal of Carinthia and treasurer of Emperor Friedrich III. and Haymeran von Rain zu Sommeregg , imperial field captain in Italy. Von Graben himself was married to a Barbara, whose marriage was childless.
In 1481 von Graben was made by the Carinthian sovereign Emperor Friedrich III. the castle Gurnitz pledged up to its cancellation out. In 1483 he was mentioned as a successor to his father as the creator of the Moosburg estate and castle .
In 1485 Von Graben was one of the imperial captains who objected to the transfer of the same to the Hungarians under Matthias Corvinus , which the city citizens of Vienna were considering , because that would also mean that control over all of Austria would be lost. Due to his heroism in defending Vienna in this regard , he was knighted with the sword of Emperor Charlemagne in 1486 by the Roman-German King Maximilian I at his coronation in Aachen . Von Graben subsequently stayed in Vienna as an officer in the imperial service.
In 1506, shortly before the death of his brother Virgil von Graben , Maximilian I had assured his brothers Wolfgang Andreas and Ernst von Graben that they would hand over the dominion and burgraviate Sommeregg as a fief, as well as Ernest's daughter Rosina von Graben von Rain and her first husband Georg Goldacher. In 1506/07 Von Graben also made his own will in favor of his niece Rosina. In 1507 Sommeregg went to the brothers Wolfgang Andreas and Ernst von Graben, who held Sommeregg until Ernsten's death in 1513.
information
Wolfgang Andreas (Wolf Andrä), sometimes wrongly only Wolfgang von Graben, is not associated with his brother Wolfgang von Graben, the Canons of Innichen (called 1450) and his distant cousin Wolfgang von Graben (1465-1521) from the Kornberg line of this sex confound.
