Jörg von Hallegg (also Jörg Hallecker and Georg von Hallegg ) (* 14th or 15th century possibly at Sommeregg Castle; † probably around 1460) was a Carinthian nobleman, burgrave of Sommeregg and administrator of the ( regional ) main team (instead of a governor ) of Carinthia.

Life

family

Jörg those of Hallegg from the family of Hallegg was the son of Christoph Hallecker , 1410/11 mentioned as Burggraf of Sommeregg. The variants of his first name are Jörg, Jorig and Georg, those of his last name range from Von Hallegg, Hallegger, Halleck, Hellegker, Hailegker, Von Holnegg to Jorig Hallegker.

He himself let down the following children:

Burgrave of Sommeregg

The Von Hallegg family had been associated with the Sommeregg castle and rule since at least Christopher Hallecker (1410); at first as feudal people, burgraves , the counts of Ortenburg and then the counts of Cilli . Since for those whose possessions in Upper Carinthia were relatively insignificant compared to their immense possessions in Carniola and Croatia, their administrators in Carinthia gained influence.

Jörg von Hallegg appears in letters for the first time in 1430 and was the successor of his father Christopher Hallecker until 1442 Burgrave of Sommeregg , who passed the estate to the Styrian Lords of Graben with the marriage of his daughter Barbara to Andreas von Graben .

Provincial Administrator of Carinthia

1441 appointed Emperor Friedrich III. Jörg von Hallegg as his administrator of the (provincial) main team in (from) his Duchy of Carinthia (instead of a provincial governor). 1444 becomes captain Konrad III. Kraiger of Kraigk called From Hallegg but as acting head of the captaincy [which is a contradiction, as the locum tenens - determined by the rulers - was employed instead of a Provincial Governor] and Anton Himmelsberger as their Vitztum in the Duchy. From the middle of the 15th century until 1520, Carinthia was under direct sovereign administration, making Von Hallegg the highest representative of the sovereign in Carinthia. The sources are unclear about the duration of his office; an older source from the 19th century speaks until 1444, another until 1448, while a third testifies until 1451, when it mentions Lienhard von Harrach as his successor.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1446 Jörg and his brother Andrä von Hallegg joined the Carinthian aristocracy.
  • In 1454 Von Hallegg was named as the keeper of Dietrichstein.
  • Jörg von Hallegg died in 1460 as a feudal man of the Counts of Gorizia .
