Franz Joseph von Wurmbrand-Stuppach (1753–1801)

Franz Joseph Count von Wurmbrand-Stuppach (born January 9, 1753 in Graz , † June 1, 1801 ) was Governor of Carinthia and designated Austrian Governor of Western Galicia .

He comes from the older branch of the Styrian line of the family. His parents were the Austrian secret councilor Count Joseph Rudolf von Wurmbrand-Stuppach (* June 11, 1724 - April 20, 1779) and his first wife, Countess Eleonore Breuner (* October 15, 1731; † July 17, 1754). His godparents were the Styrian representation and chamber Ernest William, no one represented by the then President Graf Schaffgotsch lower as Emperor Francis I , his wife Queen Maria Theresa and their son Archduke Joseph, later Emperor Joseph II. After the Archduke's seminary in Gratz had completed with honors, Wurmbrand entered the civil service. He became kuk chamberlain and gradually district chief of Marburg, inner Austrian gubernial councilor, court councilor, secret council, provincial governor and provincial commissioner in Carinthia and Carniola and most recently designated governor of western Galicia.

The news available about him praised him as a man of high intellectual education, deep insight and patriotic disposition, who combined an indomitable sense of justice with legal rigor.

He was married to Maria Anna von Auersperg (* March 21, 1761, † March 13, 1828) and had the following children with her:
