Wolfgang Böcker

Wolfgang Böcker (* 1967 in Karlsruhe ) is a German surgeon , professor for trauma surgery at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and director of the clinic for general, trauma and reconstructive surgery at the clinic at the University of Munich . He heads the multi-site clinic on the city center and Großhadern campuses.

Life

Böcker studied medicine at the Free University of Berlin . He received his medical training at the University of Regensburg , at the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore , at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the Giessen University Hospital . Between 1988 and 2000 he conducted research at Harvard Medical School in Boston . On September 11, 2001 , he and colleagues from Johns Hopkins University were first responders at Ground Zero in New York City. As a trauma surgeon, transit doctor and head of one of the largest university clinics in Germany, he covers the entire spectrum of trauma surgery. He has the full advanced training in special trauma surgery and is approved by the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) for the procedure for severely injured types. The clinical focus is on injuries to the pelvis and spine as well as injuries in the elderly. He is head of a center for geriatric traumatology DGU.

On November 1, 2014, Wolfgang Böcker took over the Chair of Trauma Surgery and Head of the Clinic for General, Trauma, Hand and Plastic Surgery at the Ludwig Maximilians University Hospital (LMU).
