Wolfgang Berg (born May 10, 1951 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

The defender Wolfgang Berg began his career in 1969 in the amateur team of Borussia Dortmund . Four years later, Berg was appointed to the squad of the professional team, which at the time was still playing in the second-rate Regionalliga West . With the Dortmund team, Berg qualified for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga a year later and made his debut there on August 24, 1974 in a 2-1 win over HSV Barmbek-Uhlenhorst . A year later, Wolfgang Berg moved to Arminia Bielefeld .

With Arminia, Berg was runner-up behind FC St. Pauli in the 1976/77 season and failed in the following playoffs for the third promoted team at TSV 1860 Munich . In the following season Wolfgang Berg lost his regular place and was able to celebrate the championship and promotion to the Bundesliga with the Bielefeld team . Berg moved to VfL Osnabrück for a year before ending his career with Arminia Bielefeld's amateurs .
