Wolfgang Brinkel

Wolfgang Brinkel (born March 6, 1946 in Stuttgart ) is a German social scientist and journalist.

Life

From 1952 to 1960 he attended elementary school in Stuttgart; from 1960 to 1963 an apprenticeship as a printer. In 1965/1966 he obtained the secondary school leaving certificate at the Evangelical Social Academy Friedewald. From 1966 to 1970 he studied social work in Ludwigsburg. Brinkel has been a member of the SPD since 1967 .

From 1973 to 1977 Brinkel completed a degree in political science, sociology and education at the University of Freiburg . Between 1975 and 1981 he was preacher of the Evangelical Church in Baden and from 1977 to 1982 managing director of the SPD regional association Baden-Württemberg in Freiburg / Br. and Friedrichshafen.

From 1982 to 1987 he worked as managing director of Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste in Berlin. During this time he was responsible for the construction of the international youth meeting place Auschwitz / Oswiecim in Poland, together with Christoph Heubner and architect Helmut Morlok from Isny . From November 1990 to June 1994 Brinkel was seconded to Leipzig as a personal advisor and advisor to the city president Friedrich Magirius as part of an agency agreement between the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Recklinghausen church district . 1994-1998 he was among OB Hinrich Lehmann-Grube Director of the Office of Council Affairs and from 1996 in personal union also head of the division of the mayor and the city council, head of the office of the mayor and Personal Assistant to the Mayor.
