Wolfgang E. Buss (born December 21, 1951 in Hamburg ) is a German publisher , publicist and editor .

Life

He was born in the third generation of Hamburg in the Wandsbek district . In a talk show with the NDR he made public for the first time: "I was a school failure". He barely got a secondary school diploma, but decided never to entrust himself to a German faculty again. He wanted to learn something every day on his own. This enabled him to found and build up a publishing house .

Buss became known in 1989 as the initiator of the largest children's plaster painting in the world.

In 1992 he founded the Magazin Verlag Hamburg, which today publishes ten regional magazines .

His social commitment includes, in particular, the awarding of the "Hamburger Social Oscar" , which is presented with numerous celebrities during the Hamburg autumn reception. The prize has been awarded to children and young people for their outstanding social commitment since 2009.

At the “Alstertal Summer Reception” , which Buss organized for the first time in 2011 with the support of ECE in Hamburg-Poppenbüttel , the North German Founder Prize was awarded.

Buss traveled to Myanmar several times and lived there as a Buddhist monk in the Thamanya monastery near the city of Hpa-an . This was headed by the monk Thamanya Sayadaw until 2003 ; he is considered the spiritual father of Nobel Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi .

Numerous articles and lectures have been written about his teaching and studies of meditation and mindfulness; u. a. the series “Evenings of Silence”.
