Wolfgang Figura (born July 15, 1952 in Duisburg ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Figura, who comes from Duisburg, started playing football at the ETuS Bissingheim district association. He later moved to VfB Homberg . For Figura, Homberg was only a transit station; he moved to the 1975/76 season for Bundesliga club Bayer 05 Uerdingen . Bayer had just been promoted to the Bundesliga and was playing in this class for the first time. Figura was one of six other strikers in coach Klaus Quinkert's team . He played three games and therefore few of the attacking players on the team. At the end of the season, Bayer finished last in the table and was relegated. Figura moved to RSV Meerbeck in the amateur league Niederrhein, whose jersey he wore for one season and where he developed into a goalscorer. He then played in the 2nd Bundesliga for 1. FC Bocholt ; here he met his former teammates Wolfgang Franke and Edmund Stieber . With Bocholt he finished 18th in the 1977/78 season and was relegated on the last day of the match. Figura played five times in the second division and scored a goal against his old employer Bayer. In 1978 Figura returned to Meerbeck to the club, which has now been renamed MSV Moers . His 18 goals this season in the 1979/80 season could not prevent relegation from the Oberliga. He then played for Hamborn 07 , SuS 09 Dinslaken and ETuS Bissingheim.
