Wolfgang Giessler

Wolfgang Gießler (born May 29, 1945 in Wolta , today a district of Trutnov in the Czech Republic ) is a German visual artist and photographer .

Life

Gießler studied from 1967 to 1972 at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Karlsruhe . Since 1977 he has been involved in numerous exhibitions in art associations and galleries. In 1983 he received the Märkische Scholarship for fine arts (painting). In 1995 he received the Weldebräu Art Prize. Wolfgang Gießler lives in Karlsruhe .

After large-format painterly works, small objects and space-related installations, Gießler has mainly turned to photography since 2006 . There are series of inconspicuous things and utensils. When viewed in series, they develop a high aesthetic appeal. With a sure eye for composition, Gießler finds something in the area of ​​inconspicuous everyday reality.
