Wolfgang Graner
Wolfgang Graner (born September 17, 1951 in Dresden , † May 31, 1971 in Wiesenfeld ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .
Life
The trained bricklayer Graner was drafted into the GDR border troops in May 1970 . With the rank of private, he was used as a post leader on the night of May 30 to May 31, 1971. At about 1.30 a.m. he shot in the air or at the border fortifications to intimidate his post Eberhard Cäzor after he had previously announced that he would flee to the Federal Republic of Germany . This shot at him, so that Graner died shortly afterwards. Graner had shot and killed Frank Möller three months earlier , who had illegally crossed the border towards the GDR.
Eberhard Cäzor was acquitted in 1997 by the Berlin Regional Court because it assumed that he feared he would be shot himself.
