Wolfgang Haupt (athlete)

Wolfgang Haupt (born July 5, 1963 in Augsburg ) is a former German athlete and bobsleigh driver .

Career

Athletic career

In 1989 Wolfgang Haupt became German champion in the 100-meter run . Only a year later he celebrated the runner-up in the same competition. In 1992 he made it to the podium again, this time in third place. Haupt also took part in the 1991 World Athletics Championships and competed for LG Bayer Leverkusen's German 4 x 100 meter relay . Unfortunately, his team was eliminated in advance. Haupt ran his best time of 10.24 s on July 12, 1991 in Leverkusen.

In addition to his athletics career, Haupt was also active in bobsleigh at BSC Winterberg . At the European four-man bobsleigh championships in 1993 in St. Moritz , Wolfgang Haupt and bobsleigh pilot Dirk Wiese took second place, and at the European championships in La Plagne the following year , the team received the bronze medal. In addition, he and the team won the World Cup gold medal in Calgary in 1994, five World Cup victories in total and one European runner-up. He also appeared 18 times for the German national team.

After the sport

With a degree in business administration and initial experience in industry, Wolfgang Haupt set up the branch of a German industrial company in Shanghai. Back in Germany, he first became the sales manager of an industrial trading company, later managing director of several medium-sized companies.

After several years as a management consultant in the field of interim management , Wolfgang Haupt is now an entrepreneur.
