Wolfgang Heilmann (philosopher)

Wolfgang Heilmann (born April 20, 1913 in Güstrow ; † November 27, 1992 in Trier ) was a German philosopher and professor at the University of Dortmund .

Life

Wolfgang Heilmann, the son of a factory owner, studied chemistry in 1931/32 after graduating from high school in Innsbruck and Rostock. After the war he studied Protestant theology and philosophy up to his doctorate in Würzburg in 1949. He became a lecturer in Bamberg .

In 1951 he appeared as a speaker at the founding meeting of the Occidental Action in Munich in 1951. He spoke out against a neutralist positioning of the FRG. In 1952 he became director of studies at the Occidental Academy in Munich-Eichstätt and published the lectures and discussions at the annual meetings in Eichstätt until 1955.

He taught philosophy as a full professor at the Pedagogical College and University of Dortmund and was a member of the Görres Society . After his retirement he moved to Trier.

Heilmann had a total of six children. The CDU politician Thomas Heilmann is his son.
