Stefan Creuzberger

Stefan Creuzberger (born September 21, 1961 in Calw ) is a German historian .

After graduating from high school, he studied history and geography at the universities in Frankfurt / Main , Tübingen and Bonn from 1982 to 1988 . From 1989 to 1994 he was a research assistant at the University of Bonn, where he received his doctorate in 1995 at the Department of Eastern European History. For 1991/92 he received a DAAD research grant for a stay in Moscow .

From 1995 to 2001 he was deputy editor-in-chief / editor of the magazine Eastern Europe . From 2001 he was assistant to Manfred Görtemaker at the University of Potsdam , where he completed his habilitation in 2007. From 2001 to 2007 Creuzberger was a research assistant for modern history at the University of Potsdam. Creuzberger was visiting professor at the University of Bologna in 2006 and 2009 . In the summer semester of 2012, Creuzberger took over the representation of the vacant professorship for contemporary history at the University of Rostock . The full call to this chair followed a year later. Creuzberger is also head of the research and documentation center of the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania on the history of dictatorships in Germany.

Research focuses on German history after 1945, the history of the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe in the 20th century, dictatorship research and international and transnational relations in the 20th century.
