Wolfgang Hein

Wolfgang Hein (born January 9, 1949 in Bremerhaven ) is a German political scientist .

Life

He studied history, political science and sociology at the University of Konstanz . From 1976 to 1978 he was a visiting fellow at the Institute of Development Studies in Brighton . From 1978 to 1983 he was a research assistant at the Latin America Institute of the Free University of Berlin . Since 1980 he has been a member of the editorial board of Peripherie magazine . Journal of Politics and Economics in the Third World . As a visiting professor (1983–1984 / 1986–1987) he taught at the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica . From 1984 to 1986 he was a lecturer in Berlin and Kassel , research work for " Bread for the World ". From 1986 to 1988 he was coordinator of the research project "Agro-industrial Development in Costa Rica" at the Latin America Institute of the Free University of Berlin . Since 1988 he has been a research assistant at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies , responsible for development theory, North-South relationships, the environment, and global governance. From 2005 to 2008 he headed the FSP 3 "Transformation in Globalization". From 2006 to 2014 he was a research assistant at the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies. From 2006 to 2008 he was editor of the journal Latin America Analyzes of the GIGA Institute for Latin American Studies. Since 2014 he has been an associate at the GIGA, representative of the GIGA in the Leibniz research network Infection 21.
