Wolfgang Imle (born March 23, 1909 in Rathenow ; † August 11, 2001 in Hagen ) was a German lawyer, politician ( FDP ) and functionary in organizations returning from war.

Life and work

After graduating from the Reform Realgymnasium in Hagen-Haspe in 1928 , Imle began studying law and political science in Bonn , which he completed in 1932 with the first state examination and in 1936 with the second state examination. He received his doctorate in 1933 as Dr. jur. , joined the Reich Ministry of Economics in January 1938 and was appointed to the government council in July 1940. He then took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently as captain and battery chief. Towards the end of the war he was taken prisoner by the Soviets, from which he was released in 1949.

Imle worked briefly in a machine factory in Remscheid . He moved to Flensburg in 1951 , where he became the managing director of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as managing director of the Wirtschaftsvereinigung Groß- und Außenhandel Schleswig-Holstein eV, regional association Flensburg. From 1956 to 1966 he was chairman of the regional association of returnees, prisoners of war and members of missing persons , after which he was elected honorary chairman. In the Federal Association was 1960-1976 vice president and then president until 1982. Here, too, he was elected honorary president. From 1970 to 1986 he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Homecoming Foundation . In these functions, Imle was committed to the release of German war criminals who had been imprisoned abroad, including Herbert Kappler , the former commander of the security police in Rome and responsible for the massacre in the Ardeatine Caves .

Political party

Imle joined the FDP in 1954 , was FDP district chairman in Flensburg-Stadt from 1956 to 1968 and deputy state chairman of the FDP Schleswig-Holstein from 1962 to 1966 .

MP

Imle belonged to the German Bundestag from June 29, 1960, when he replaced the late Otto Köhler , until 1965 and from June 2, 1967, when he replaced Otto Eisenmann , until 1969. From 1961 to 1965 he was deputy. Chairman of the Finance Committee of the Bundestag. From January 8, 1963 to 1965 he was chairman of the economic policy working group of the FDP parliamentary group. In addition, he dealt mainly with transport policy , as several oral inquiries to the federal government on this subject show.
