Wolfgang Jantsch (born August 21, 1946 in Vienna ) is Professor of Experimental Physics at the Johannes Kepler University (JKU) Linz .

Life

Wolfgang is the son of Hans Heinrich Jantsch and Marlene Jantsch . Wolfgang Jantsch studied physics and mathematics at the University of Vienna from 1964 to 1971 . In 1971 he received his doctorate at the Institute for Applied Physics . Until 1972 he did a post-doc at Lakehead University in Ontario , Canada. He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for Experimental Physics at the JKU and as a research assistant at the Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research in Stuttgart . In 1982 he completed his habilitation at the JKU. Since 1990 he has been professor of solid-state spectroscopy at the JKU. From 1998 to 2003 he was Vice Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences , and from 2000 to 2004 Head of the Institute for Semiconductor and Solid State Physics. From 2008 to 2010 he was chairman of the “Technical Physics” study commission.
