Wolfgang Jehn

Wolfgang Jehn (born April 10, 1937 in Wiesbaden ; † April 4, 2017 in Worpswede ) was a German composer .

Jehn studied music in Wiesbaden, Frankfurt am Main and Bremen . For many years he worked as an employed church musician in Bremen-Aumund and Bremen. From 1975 he lived as a freelance composer in Worpswede. In 1984 he founded the Worpsweder Musikwerkstatt publishing house together with Margarete Jehn .

Work

Jehn wrote music for radio plays , music for television games , songs , children's songs , choral works , singspiele , music for the accordion and instrumental pieces for various groups ( Orff-Schulwerk ). He was best known for his fairy tale opera for children, Der Kalif Storch (based on the fairy tale by Wilhelm Hauff ; libretto: Margarete Jehn) and for the song by the old moor witch . Many songs and instrumentals have been published in collections of other music publishers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Wolfgang Jehn died in Worpswede at the age of 79.
