Wolfgang Karius
Wolfgang Karius (born June 4, 1943 in Gummersbach ) is a German church musician .
Karius studied school music and church music at the Cologne University of Music. His teachers were Michael Schneider , Wolfgang Stockmeier and Hugo Ruf . He completed his studies with Marie-Claire Alain and Jean Langlais in Paris, where he was also the organist of the German Church.
After working for many years in Cologne-Mülheim , he moved to Aachen as cantor of the Anna Church in 1983 , where he also took over the management of the Aachen Bach Association . On June 30, 2008, he retired. His successor there is Georg Hage .
In addition to his work as a church musician, he has given concerts in almost all European countries, in Canada , Israel and Lebanon . His work is documented by numerous audio documents ( Erato , Schwann, Electrola). For his achievements he was awarded the title of church music director by the regional church .
