Wolfgang Knabe (athlete)

Wolfgang Knabe (born July 12, 1959 in Damme ) is a former German triple jumper .

In 1981 he was eighth at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Grenoble . At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 1983 , he was eliminated in qualification.

In 1988 he was German champion, in 1983 and 1992 runner-up. In the hall he was German champion in 1986 and runner-up in 1983 and 1988.

Wolfgang Knabe started for OSC Damme until 1976 , from 1977 to 1982 for BLK Bersenbrück, from 1983 to 1984 for Union Gross-Ilsede and from 1985 to 1995 for TV Wattenscheid 01 . In 1996 he returned to OSC Damme, of which he is currently first chairman. In the senior sector he was world and European champion several times, and in 2005 he set a world record for the M45 age group of 15.13 m. In the M50 age group he reached 14.44 m and in 2014 Knabe increased his world record at the Senior European Championships in Izmir to 14.13 m.
