Wolfgang Kraus (born August 20, 1953 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a former German football player and manager.

Career

societies

With 18 years Wolfgang Kraus received a license player contract with Eintracht Frankfurt and was first on 3 June 1972 (32. Round) in 3: 6 defeat at Bayern Munich - 81 minutes for Thomas Rohrbach substitute - for use . His first Bundesliga goal was dated October 5, 1974 (7th matchday), when Eintracht achieved the highest victory in the Bundesliga to date with a 9-1 home win over Rot-Weiss Essen .

For the 1979/80 season, Kraus moved to Bayern Munich, for whom he first came on August 11, 1979 (1st matchday) against Bundesliga newcomer Bayer 04 Leverkusen - in the 81st minute for Wolfgang Dremmler - came on. For Bayern, he completed 138 league (17 goals), 8 DFB Cup (2 goals) and 35 European Cup games (5 goals).

From 1984 to 1986 he played for FC Zurich in the Swiss National League A and returned to Frankfurt for one season, for which he played another 15 games and scored one goal. His last game took place on November 29, 1986 (16th matchday) in the 0-1 home defeat against FC Schalke 04 . For Eintracht Frankfurt he completed a total of 188 league (30 goals), 23 DFB Cup (7 goals) and 13 European Cup games (5 goals).

Kraus completed ten international matches for the amateur national team , the first time on December 6, 1972 in Hertogenbosch in the 1: 2 defeat against the Netherlands, the last time on February 26, 1975 in Mannheim in the 0: 2 defeat against France. In the B national team he was used on June 5 and 12, 1977: 4-1 or 3-1 victory over the USA (in Chicago) and Honduras (in Tegucigalpa).

management

In the middle of the 1986/87 season, the veteran moved from his regular midfield position to the managerial position at Eintracht Frankfurt, which he held until September 1988. Kraus achieved his professional goal ahead of time of becoming the manager of the Hessian Bundesliga club. The trained businessman had already shown great negotiating skills as a player in his own contract negotiations, which was also useful for his new role. However, it failed after less than two years. The background to the dismissal was the sale of the star player and audience favorite Lajos Détári . The first copy of the termination without notice of his management contract at Eintracht Frankfurt was thrown in through a toilet window, the second was duly delivered.
