Wolfgang Matt (politician)

Wolfgang Matt (born September 16, 1955 ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). He has been the mayor of the district capital Feldkirch in Vorarlberg since March 2019 .

Life

Wolfgang Matt is a trained banker . Since 1990 he has been active in local politics, initially as a substitute member of the city council, from 1995 to 2002 as a member of the city council and mayor of Altenstadt . From 2003 to 2019 he was city ​​councilor responsible for finance and assets, economy and tourism, and agriculture and forestry.

After Barbara Schöbi-Fink moved to the Wallner II state government , he became Vice Mayor of Feldkirch in March 2018. In February 2019, Wilfried Berchtold handed over the chairmanship of the Feldkirch People's Party to Wolfgang Matt. On March 12, 2019, Matt was elected mayor of Feldkirch as successor to Berchtold by the city council with 22 out of 36 votes. Gudrun Petz-Bechter succeeded him as Vice Mayor.

Matt lives in Altenstadt with his wife, with whom he has two children.
