Wolfgang Mertens
Wolfgang Mertens (born March 10, 1946 in Hamburg ) is a German psychologist , psychoanalyst and professor emeritus.
Live and act
From 1969 Mertens studied psychology at the University of Munich . At the same time, he trained as a psychoanalyst at the Academy for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Munich eV until 1979; He completed his training analysis from 1973 with Heinz Holfeld. He received his doctorate in 1975 from the University of Munich. From 1982 to 2011 Mertens was Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychoanalysis at the University of Munich. From 1985 to 1995 he was head of training at the Academy for Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy Munich eV, where he also works as a training analyst and supervisor .
His focus is on analytical treatment technology , developmental psychology , pathology and methodology .
Mertens is the chairman of the board of directors of the Köhler Foundation in the Stifterverband.
