Wolfgang Mittmann

Wolfgang Mittmann (born March 26, 1939 in Trebnitz , Silesia ; † February 12, 2006 in Beiersdorf , Brandenburg ) was a police officer of the People's Police and a writer who published crime literature as a part-time and then full-time after the fall of the Wall. He became known for his criminal history books, including the series "Great Cases of the People's Police".

Life

Wolfgang Mittmann initially made a career as a people's police officer and was captain of the GDR criminal police until the fall of the Berlin Wall . After the abolition of military ranks in the People's Police, he was retired as Chief Detective Inspector. Then he worked as a crime writer. In 1971 he had already published detective novels in the GDR for the publishers Das Neue Berlin , Neues Leben and the military publishing house of the German Democratic Republic . His books dealt with spectacular or even today mysterious crimes from the time of the GDR , which Mittmann researched and re-enacted in detail. In 1991 Wolfgang Mittmann was co-editor of the complete bibliography "The Criminal Literature of the GDR". He also wrote crime stories , novels and radio plays .
