Wolfgang Oberröder

Wolfgang Oberröder (* 1942 in Munich ) is a German Catholic priest and author . He taught for over twenty years at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt , first as a practical instructor, then as a professor of theory and practice in parish pastoral care .

biography

Oberröder grew up in Augsburg . He completed his first apprenticeship in the commercial-technical field with three-year studies abroad in England, France and Sweden. He then studied theology and philosophy in Dillingen / Donau, Münster / Westphalia and Augsburg. His ordination took place in the High Cathedral in Augsburg on June 18, 1972.

Oberröder became chaplain in the parish of St. Georg in Augsburg and at the same time scientific assistant at the chair for pastoral theology with Karl Forster at the University of Augsburg . In 1976 he received his doctorate as Dr. theol. on “Synodal co-responsibility in the Church. Possibilities and limits of an institutionalized participation of the faithful in decisions of the church office ”. From 1977 to 1986 he was pastor in St. Vitus, Neusäß-Ottmarshausen and founding director of the "Institute for theological-pastoral training". He became cathedral vicar at Augsburg cathedral, was chairman of the planning commission of the diocese of Augsburg and was given a teaching position for pastoral theology at the specialist academy for parish pastoral care in Neuburg / Danube.

In October 1986 he was appointed to the Catholic University of Eichstätt as a practical instructor for students of religious education and church educational work based in Munich at the local faculty there. He was also a chaplain in the Kreszentia monastery in Munich. From 1994 to 2007 he held a professorship for theory and practice of parish pastoral care at the Catholic University of Eichstätt-Ingolstadt. He was Dean of the Faculty for two terms. Dean of studies for three terms and senator at the Catholic Faculty for one term.

Since January 1998 he has been Superior of the Congregation of the Kreszentia Sisters and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Kreszentia Foundation. On February 1, 2002, he was appointed "Chaplain to His Holiness" with the title " Monsignor ". He has been Professor Emeritus since 2008. On February 29, 2012 he was named " Papal Honorary Prelate " by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed.

Since 1972 Oberröder has been working regularly in the Sunday newspaper for the diocese of Augsburg and in the sermon magazine “ Praedica verbum ”, he also writes articles in specialist magazines such as “Klerusblatt” and since 2001 in the Munich church newspaper. He is also the author of contributions to radio stations such as “Münchner Kirchenradio” and “ Radio Horeb ”.
