Wolfgang Peischel

Wolfgang Peischel (* 1956 ) is an Austrian political scientist , military scientist and officer in the federal army with the rank of brigadier . Since 2008 he has been editor-in-chief of the Austrian military magazine .

Life

Wolfgang Peischel was born in 1956 and, after graduating from high school , completed officer training at the Theresian Military Academy in Wiener Neustadt from 1982 to 1985 . From 1991 to 1994 he attended the 13th general staff course at the National Defense Academy in Vienna. At the same time, he began studying political science at the University of Vienna , which he completed in 1997. In 2015 he received his PhD in military sciences from the Doctoral School of Military Sciences of the National University of Public Service in Budapest with the dissertation Relations Between Functional Principles of Democracies and Their Armed Forces: An Analysis of Relevant Influencing Factors and Their Systemic Interdependence . His supervisor was András Ujj .

Professionally, he is the main teaching officer at the National Defense Academy, since 1999 as head of the independent Department for Comprehensive National Defense in the Department of Military Strategy in the area of ​​General Staff Group B. In 2001, as a colonel in the General Staff , he was in command of the Vienna Jägerregiment ( high and German master ). In 2003 he became head of the structural and program planning group in the planning staff of the Federal Ministry of Defense and Sport .

Since 2008 he has been editor-in-chief of the Austrian military magazine .
