Wolfgang Renzsch

Wolfgang Renzsch (* 1949 in Völksen , Springe ) is a German political scientist with a teaching position as professor at the Institute for Political Science at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg .

Life

Renzsch graduated from high school in Hanover in 1969. From 1969 to 1978 he studied political science and German at the University of Hanover , the Georg-August University of Göttingen and the London School of Economics and Political Science . In 1978 he received his doctorate at the University of Göttingen on the subject of “Craftsmen and wage workers in the early labor movement”. From April 1979 to January 1992 Renzsch was employed as a scientific consultant in the research institute of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation . In 1991 he completed his habilitation at the University of Göttingen on the subject of “Financial constitution and financial equalization. The disputes about their political formation in the Federal Republic of Germany between currency reform and German unification (1948 to 1990) ”. From February 1992 to March 1994 Renzsch worked in the Ministry of Finance of the State of Brandenburg . In the summer semester of 1994 he took over a professorship at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt / Oder. On September 1, 1994, Renzsch was appointed university professor at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg. In September 2005 he was awarded a Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission. His research focuses on regions in the European multilevel system and federal financial relationships. Wolfgang Renzsch is a member of the scientific advisory board of the economic policy journal Wirtschaftsdienst .
