The economic service is a monthly German magazine for economic policy . The medium publishes articles by well-known authors from science, politics and practice on current topics in economic and social policy in Germany. Topics of the European Union that are relevant to the Federal Republic of Germany are also published, for example from the areas of trade, environmental and currency policy. The magazine wants to build a bridge between science and practice and inform readers scientifically sound and in non-technical language about current economic policy topics. It is one of the traditional economic journals.

publication

The economic service appeared for the first time in 1916 in Hamburg, where the editorial office is still based today. As a result of the dissolution of the Hamburg World Economic Archive (HWWA), the Economic Service has been published by the German Central Library for Economic Sciences (ZBW) - Leibniz Information Center for Economics, since 2007 .

Scientific Advisory Board

Economists who feel obliged to provide scientific and empirical policy advice have been appointed to the scientific advisory board.
