Wolfgang Schäfer (born February 8, 1957 in Thailen ) is a German engineer and politician ( SPD ).

Life

Schäfer attended the elementary school in Thailen and the secondary school in Weiskirchen from 1963 to 1971. Between 1971 and 1975 he did an apprenticeship as a technical draftsman. In 1976 he passed the technical college entrance qualification and in 1977 the technical college entrance examination. From 1977 to 1978 he was in the Bundeswehr . From 1978 to 1981 studied at the University of Applied Sciences Rhineland-Palatinate, Trier Department and graduated as a graduate engineer (University of Applied Sciences) from supply engineering. From 1981 to 1991 he was operating group leader at Trier municipal utilities, gas and water supply. He then worked as a managing partner: from 1993 at IFA Gesellschaft für Immobilien mbH, from 2000 at Hotel Saargalerie, from 2003 at Hochwälder Brau-Gasthaus GmbH, from 2005 at IFA Wohnungsbau GmbH and from 2005 at IFA Lux SA, 2010 Hochwälder Wohlfühlhotel GmbH.

In 1984 he joined the SPD. From 1984 he was a member of the Schillingen municipal council and chairman there. In 1989 he became a member of the Trier-Saarburg district council and deputy group chairman. From 2012 he was a member of the Kell am See municipal council.

In 1991 he ran for the twelfth state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate . On May 28, 1991, he replaced Jürgen Debus in the state parliament, to which he was a member until the end of the 1996 election period. In the state parliament he was deputy chairman of the study commission “Design of municipal taxes” and a member of the committee for the environment and the study commission “flood protection”. In addition, he became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volksbank Hochwald-Saarburg in 1994 .
