Wolfgang Scheuer

Wolfgang Scheuer (* 1935 ) is a German lawyer and sports functional .

Life

The doctor of law is established as a lawyer for tax law in Munich . He began playing golf in the 1970s and published articles in golf magazines. Later he conducted seminars on non-profit making for golf clubs.

At the request of Jan Brügelmann , President of the German Golf Association (DGV), he was promoted to the Presidium of the DGV. He was treasurer from 1982 , later vice president. He was president from 1994 to April 2010. During his tenure, the number of golfers in Germany increased from 225,000 to almost 600,000. The association transformed into a modern service provider for its members. After the intensification of youth promotion, golf was included in the program " Youth trained for the Olympics " in 2007 as the only non-Olympic sport at the time. To strengthen environmental awareness, he launched the Golf & Nature project in 2005, in which more than 120 golf courses are now participating. In addition, the Association of Club-Free Golfers (VcG), the Association of Operating Companies and the Professional Golfer Association (PGA) of Germany were integrated into the DGV.

At the international level, he was a member of the R&A Rules Committee from 1997 to 2001 and of the R&A Amateur Status Committee from 2004 to 2012.
