Wolfgang Schmidt (born April 18, 1934 in Niederselters ; † May 22, 2000 in Selters (Taunus) ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Wolfgang Schmidt completed a degree in sociology and economics. From 1958 he was employed by Lufthansa . From 1972 to 1975 he was chairman of the general works council, and from 1975 he was appointed representative for special sales tasks. Later, Schmidt was a member of the supervisory board of the PR companies of Hunzinger Information AG for over 10 years .

politics

Schmidt joined the SPD in 1960 and was deputy chairman of the Limburg-Weilburg sub-district from 1971. In the 1969 Bundestag election , he successfully ran for the German Bundestag on the SPD state list of Hesse . After his re-election in 1972 he stayed there until the end of the legislative period in 1976. In 1978 Schmidt replaced the deceased Wolfgang Schwabe and was again a member of the Bundestag from 1978 to 1980.
