Wolfgang Schremmer (born October 13, 1950 in Hohenleipisch ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association . He played there for BSG Stahl Riesa .

At the age of seven, Schremmer began to play organized football for the company sports community (BSG) Lok Hohenleipisch . At the age of 17, he moved to BSG Stahl Riesa in 1968 and completed his apprenticeship as a welder. For the 1970/71 season he was taken over in the 1st team that played in the major league. On the first match day, August 22, 1970, the 1.74 m tall Schremmer played his first league game in the match Dynamo Dresden - Stahl Riesa (0-0) as a defender. He immediately fought for a regular place and closed his first league season with 23 appearances in the 26 played point games. The 1971/72 season he began with six league games in a row, but then he was drafted into military service.

Only in early 1974 he returned to Stahl Riesa and was used in the second half of the 1973/74 season in twelve league games as a midfielder. The midfield remained Schremmer's domain in the following years. After four seasons in which Schremmer was part of the steel team's players, Riesa had to relegate to the second-rate GDR league in 1977 . Shortly after the start of the league season, Schremmer suffered an Achilles tendon injury , but was able to play again in good time at the beginning of the promotion round, and was thus able to contribute to the immediate promotion. In the new league season 1978/79 he suffered in the first half of the season from the aftermath of his injury, so that he was mainly used as a substitute. It was only in the second half of the season that he had his regular place back and was used alternately in defense and midfield. Also in 1979/80 Schremmer could not play through injury due to injury and only completed nine league games. The 1980/81 season was satisfactory in terms of 21 league appearances for him, but steel had to relegate again at the end of the season.

It was two years before the steelworkers managed to return to the big leagues. This time Schremmer, who had meanwhile successfully completed his industrial engineering studies, was significantly involved in the promotion with 20 out of 28 played games and was again a member of the regular eleven in the following league season 1983/84 despite his 33 years with 19 point matches, now in the Defense used. After the end of the season he announced his retirement from high-performance sport. Nevertheless, he had to help out again in three league games at the beginning of the 1984/85 season. Schremmer played his last game in the league on September 15, 1984 in the encounter Motor Suhl - Stahl Riesa (2: 3), in which he was used as a right defender. With this game, Schremmer increased his league record to 181 missions, in which he scored nine goals as a defensive player.
