The VfB Hohenleipisch 1912 is a football club from the village Hohenleipisch in the Elbe-Elster district . The soccer department qualified once for the final round of the Central German soccer championship before 1933 , played in the GDR for three years in the Cottbus district soccer league and reached the final of the Brandenburg State Cup in 2011 .

history

Up until 1912 there was no football club in Hohenleipisch, only two gymnastics clubs. At the suggestion of players from FC Preußen Biehla , Moritz Göpel decided to found a football club in the town. 18 athletes from the gymnastics clubs joined him. The founding meeting took place on May 12, 1912 at the Kieslinger inn . At the beginning of the 1920s there were already three football clubs in Hohenleipisch with VfB, Olympia Hohenleipisch and Wacker Hohenleipisch , but only VfB had its own sports field. For this reason, the other two clubs joined VfB Hohenleipisch at the end of 1922 . In the 1924/25 season, the club made the leap into the Gauliga Elbe-Elster , one of the numerous first divisions of the Association of Central German Ball Game Clubs (VMBV). Already in 1925/26 Hohenleipisch won the Elbe-Elster championship after a 2-2 and 3-0 win in the final against Hartenfels Torgau . As a result, the club qualified for the first time for the finals of the Central German soccer championship . Hohenleipisch had no chance here, however, with a 4-0 defeat against Riesaer SV on March 7, 1926, the club was eliminated in the first round. In 1930/31 the Gauliga Elbe / Elster was integrated into the Gauliga Mulde . VfB Hohenleipisch remained in this first division until the VMBV was dissolved, but could not qualify again for the Central German football final. In the course of the Gleichschaltung, the football associations were dissolved a few months after the National Socialists came to power in 1933. As the first leagues, new Gauligen were created, Hohenleipisch could not qualify for these and was sorted into the third-class district class Elbe-Elster within the Sportgau center. In 1935/36 and 1936/37 the club won the district league, but could not prevail in the promotion round to the second-rate district class Halle-Merseburg.

After the end of the Second World War , all sports clubs in the SBZ were dissolved. In place of the VfB Hohenleipisch , the SG Hohenleipisch was founded, which later renamed itself first to BSG Traktor Hohenleipisch and then to BSG Lok Hohenleipisch . In the 1961/62 season , the club was promoted to the then fourth-class football district league Cottbus . A sixth place in the debut season was followed by an increase in the following season with fifth place. In 1963/64 the district league was back in third class. Since the league was downsized for the following season, several clubs had to relegate. Lok Hohenleipisch missed relegation by two points and, despite reaching ninth place in the table, had to relegate to the district class. In the following years, the club played in the district class, a promotion to the district league no longer succeeded.

In 1990 VfB Hohenleipisch was re-established . In 1996 the club made the leap into the state class South Brandenburg . Ten years later, the Landesliga Süd Brandenburg was reached for the first time . After victories over Blau-Gelb Hosena (6: 0), SV Teupitz (5: 0), FC Strausberg (3: 2), SV Altlüdersdorf (2: 1), SV Falkensee-Finkenkrug (1: 0) and FC Schwedt 02 (1-0), the then seventh division reached the final of the Brandenburg State Cup 2011 . It was the first time that a state division team was able to advance into the final of the Brandenburg State Cup . The final on May 22, 2011 was lost 3-0 against SV Babelsberg 03 , so Hohenleipisch missed out on qualifying for the DFB Cup . For the 2013/14 season , the club was promoted to the Brandenburg League and was able to hold out in these three seasons. The club is currently back in the South Brandenburg regional league .
