The football district league Cottbus 1961/62 was the tenth season of the football district league Cottbus of the German Football Association . After six seasons based on the Soviet model, it was decided, as is customary in Europe, to play in the autumn-spring rhythm again. The bridging season was unique in this season, which lasted from the beginning of 1961 to the summer of 1962, a three-part season in which each team met their opponents once at home, once away and once on a neutral pitch. In addition, the district league was expanded this season to two seasons with 13 teams each. The winners of both seasons met in two finals to determine who was promoted to the 2nd GDR League.

The BSG Chemie Schwarzheide was able to prevail in the sum of the two finals against the second team of the ASG Vorwärts Cottbus and rose. The BSG Progress Guben and the BSG Chemie Hosena were relegated to the district class, in return the BSG Empor-Aufbau Cottbus (East), the BSG Progress Spremberg (center) and the BSG Motor Lauchhammer-East (West) were promoted.
