The Football District League Cottbus 1956 was the fifth season of the Football District League Cottbus of the German Football Association . Once again, this year's Cottbus district league was held in a round-robin tournament with 14 teams, based on the Soviet model . The BSG Chemie Schwarzheide prevailed with four points ahead of the BSG Chemie Weißwasser , but was only fourth of five teams in the promotion round to the 2nd GDR League in 1957, which means the promotion was missed. The BSG Progress Guben , the newly founded BSG activist Schwarze Pump and the BSG Aufbau Hoyerswerda were relegated to the Cottbus district class, while BSG Aktivist Schipkau and the BSG Chemie Döbern were promoted to the district league.
