The football district league Cottbus 1955 was the fourth season of the football district league Cottbus of the German Football Association . There have been a few changes this season. By inserting the 2nd GDR league as the third league level, the district leagues were henceforth only fourth class. In addition, the soccer championships in the GDR were aligned with the calendar year based on the Soviet model. In order to bridge the time between the end of the 1954/55 season in the summer of 1955 and the start of the 1956 season in the spring, a bridging round in a round-robin tournament without a second leg was played in 1955 . The number of participants was increased to 15 teams. In the end, the BSG activist Welzow was one point ahead of the BSG Progress Cottbus district champion, but in the transition round there was no opportunity for promotion to the next higher league. There was also no regular relegation to the district class and no promoters from this for the coming season. Only the BSG Empor Mitte Cottbus withdrew from the district league after the season for unknown reasons. The coming season was then played with 14 teams.
