Wolfgang Siegel

Wolfgang Siegel (born June 17, 1583 in Eibenstock , † September 4, 1644 in Freiberg ) was the electoral Saxon mining authority for the Saxon Ore Mountains .

Life

The grandson of the Saxon Tithe former Melchior Seal and son of the father of the same name whose wife Barbara, daughter of Erbsass' Tännicht Wolf Klinger, studied at the University of Jena for five years philosophy and law. Before completing his licentiate examination, his father called him home. His plan to send his son to another university was discarded and Wolfgang learned to be a clerk at the office of the clerk in Schwarzenberg . On October 24, 1612, he was appointed mountain notary in Freiberg, whereupon he and his family moved from Schwarzenberg to the Saxon mountain capital. After six years in the notary's office, on October 31, 1618, he was appointed to the electoral BergkAmbts-Vorwalter of the Ertzgebürge of these countries and held the office until his death. He was buried on September 8, 1644 in Freiberg Cathedral . The funeral sermon given by superintendent Paulus Sperling appeared in print in Freiberg.

family

On May 27, 1611 he married Barbara, the daughter of the treasurer Johann Seyffart (Seyffert) from Jena. This marriage resulted in four sons, of which Theodorus and Melchior Wolfgang survived their father. The son Christoph Siegel died in 1629.
