Wolfgang Sperner

Wolfgang Sperner (born December 28, 1924 in Alt Rothwasser , Czechoslovakia , † February 24, 2005 in Linz ) was an Austrian journalist and author.

Life

Sperner grew up in a family of teachers. After attending high school in Opava , he was enrolled at the Karl Ferdinand University in Prague . However, as a result of the outbreak of the Second World War, Sperner could not start studying. After the end of the war and expulsion , he worked as an editor for the weekly “Der Mühlviertler” in Linz . In 1947 Sperner moved to the Linzer Volksblatt and later the Neue Volksblatt. In 1971 Sperner rose to the position of deputy editor-in-chief and business editor. Since 1965 Sperner was responsible for the publication of the Linz citizens' letter . He was also involved in the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft in Austria and in April 1973 took over the editorial management of their organ “Sudetenpost”. Sperner retired in 1998.

Sperner published several books and was the author of radio plays, such as Johannes Kepler in Linz .
