Planscher also Plantscher or Plantschier is an autochthonous white wine variety in Switzerland . The grape variety used to be in the Rhone Valley , but not yet widespread in the Vispertal and was already considered extinct. Today, the splash is grown in very small quantities in Visperterminen , Canton Valais .

origin

Planscher belongs to a group of grape varieties that have been able to maintain themselves in geographical island locations in the Alpine regions of Italy and the Valais in Switzerland. The following varieties belong to this group:

Barolo (near Martigny ), Bourguignon (under this entry the grape variety is listed in Pierre Galet's reference work), Bourgogne Blanc, Gamay Blanc, Gros Bourgogne, Bourgogne Gros, Gros Rhin, Plant du Rhin and Schaffhausen.

Ampelographic varietal characteristics

In ampelography , the habitus is described as follows:

  • The shoot tip is open. It is hairy white wool with a slight carmine red tinge. The light green young leaves are only hairy cobwebs.
  • The leaves are three-lobed or whole and barely curved. The stem bay is closed in a U-shape. The blade is bluntly serrated. The teeth are set medium-wide compared to other grape varieties.
  • The cylindrical to conical grape is large and quite dense. The berries are medium-sized and yellow in color.

Splashers are a variety of the noble grapevine ( Vitis vinifera ).
