List of grape varieties

Himbertscha is a white wine variety . DNA analyzes by José Vouillamoz (biologist from Switzerland) showed that the variety from the canton of Valais is probably a natural cross between the Humagne Blanche variety and a still unknown variety. The variety probably got its name from the Rhaeto-Romanic term “im bercla” (pergola). The classic Himbertscha education method is actually the pergola . The variety was practically considered extinct when its cultivation was revived in 1984 by the winemaker Josef-Maria Chanton in Visperterminen with a winery in Visp (0.17 hectares, status 2007, source: Office fédéral de l'agriculture OFAG).

The taste of the straw yellow white wine is reminiscent of moss, hazelnut, lemon balm and mango.

origin
