List of grape varieties

Vien de Nus is an autochthonous red wine variety from the Aosta Valley region , Italy . It thrives in an area between the municipalities of Donnaz and Avise and takes its name from the municipality of Nus , which is a few kilometers east of the city of Aosta .

The Vien de Nus grapevine produces a single variety , a dark red wine with violet reflections; a garnet-red tone develops with age. In blends with grape varieties such as Petit-Rouge , Vien de Nus can also be found in the wines Arnad-Montjovet, Donnaz , Enfer d'Arvier and Torrette .

A study published in 2002 suggests that the Mayolet , Petit-Rouge, and Vien de Nus varieties are closely related and likely descended from the same ancestors.
