Goron de Bovernier

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Goron de Bovernier is a Swiss red wine - grape variety from the canton of Valais . It is also called Goron for short and should not be confused with the cuvée of the same name, primarily made from the Pinot noir and Gamay varieties , which is the red Valais country wine Goron .

The variety takes its name from the municipality of Bovernier in the Martigny district in the canton of Valais . In the Lower Valais it is still cultivated in small quantities, it ripens about 20 days after the Gutedel . The red wines from Goron de Bovernier are very flowery and aromatic.

Research by José Vouillamoz revealed that the variety is likely a natural cross between the Rouge du Pays variety  (Cornalin du Valais, Walliser Cornalin) and an as yet unknown variety.
